Update
I’m so sorry to be the bearer of some pretty devastating news:
I saw the Neurologist this morning who confirmed that I have a brain tumour called Glioblastoma. You can study the gruesome details on the web but in simple terms it is an aggressive Cancer that originates in the brain itself. Treatment is not possible because it would involve removing so much of my brain that there would be very little of me left behind. The remaining time available to me will be weeks or possibly months and I will be in the care of the local palliative care team who will try to enable me to be cared for at home as the disease progresses. I am no longer able to drive but plan to walk to restaurants here in Cheltenham for as long as practical and to maintain the daily ritual of pulling a cork at around 6pm. As long as my cognitive functions are functioning I will try to issue occasional updates but when email silence descends you will realise that the situation has changed. If you have Margaret’s contact details then you can stay in touch with her, otherwise it may be sensible in the first instance to go through Simon Blackmore - simon@simonblackmore.co.uk.
You are receiving this because we have already been in touch about my problem or because I have had to postpone a planned get together.
for the moment and with every good wish,
as ever,
Tim
